One hundred heritage windows with a leafy view and good perspectives in terms of sustainability. The heritage manor house amidst old trees and endless fields on the outskirts of the small village of Zarchlin tells an exciting story (of its construction) both inside and out – from its origins in 1879 as the residence of the lord of the manor’s family to its function as a town hall, community workshop, co-op or centre for festivities and celebrations in GDR times.
Today the completely renovated guest house with its lovingly designed apartments continues to function as a versatile space of opportunity – from retreat to socialising in the communal rooms, whether as a couple, as a family or as a meeting place for workshops and seminars.
Since 2017, the entire house has been renovated in accordance with heritage guidelines and in keeping with its status as a heritage listed building, always with the former building tradition in mind. The original windows were restored and painted with linseed oil paint, the walls were plastered again with clay and lime and the old floorboards and half-timbered beams were refurbished. Since there is no need to do without modern comfort despite the heritage ambience, each of the apartments has a modern en suite bathroom, comfortable beds and a mixture of heritage furniture and design classics. Three of the apartments have their own kitchen.
In addition, the former manor kitchen is available to all guests for communal cooking sessions – with a spacious kitchen unit and large dining table, Smeg range cooker and direct access to the garden terrace with its seasonal vegetable beds. This is how culinary celebrations can still be enjoyed in the company of good friends. The house also strikes the right note with musicians, because in addition to a high-quality, sound-optimised rehearsal room, there is also a large hall available. All around meanwhile, the birds are happily chirping away amidst rural tranquillity.
What to do
In and around the house: relaxing, socialising, cooking together, enjoying the sunset by the fire bowl, making music in the music room or tinkering in the workshop.
In the surrounding area: sailing on nearby Lake Plauer, motor boating, fishing, windsurfing, diving, swimming and taking a dip in one of the many small crystal-clear lakes, canoeing, walking and cycling in the surrounding forests of the Nossentiner/Schwinzer heathlands nature reserve, mushroom picking, rail trolley rides, visiting museums or an excursion to Schwerin or the Baltic Sea.
Why we like this house
A house that celebrates community and revives old building techniques.
This house is great for
Couples, families with children and grandparents, seminars and company meetings and can also be used as a centre for inspiration, giving musicians and creative people an opportunity to perform.

Was will man mehr. Danke.
Wir treffen uns traditionelle mit 5 Paaren Anfang Dezember irgendwo in Norddeutschland zum Kochen, Erzählen, Weintrinken, Spazierengehen. Diesmal also Zarchlin.
We‘ll be back!
