The first time I looked at the picture of The Wooden House on the Isle of Skye in Scotland, land of my birth, memories of inner peace came flooding back.
From an early age, I travelled abroad with my parents, due to my father’s work. Again for work reasons, my peripatetic life has continued, living with my own family in several countries.
The older I get, the stronger the memories are of the peace and natural beauty I experienced in the Islands and Highlands of Scotland. Until the next time I can visit these remote places of my childhood again and when things get too hectic in daily life, I frequently go back to look at this picture, imagine myself standing in front of The Wooden House looking out across the sea to the island of Harris or walking in the rugged hills, breathing in the healing sea and mountain air.

Much of HOLIDAYARCHITECTURE’s work involves dealing with visual material. Sometimes there is a picture that particularly appeals to us – a photo that surprises us, fascinates us, or simply forces us to pay even more attention to a house or look at it from a different perspective. You can find this in our series “One Picture”.
