Artistic sgraffiti adorns the massive walls of the Chasa Noth, a 300-year-old Engadine house on the village square in Scuol, framed by the peaks of the Silvretta and the Engadine Dolomites.
Located at 1,250 metres above sea level, this Graubünden mountain village is known for its spectacular mountain scenery, mineral springs and typical regional architecture. The prominently located Chasa Noth, a former farmhouse from the 18th century, is also part of the backdrop to the old village centre. Whitewashed and restored, the original façade now shines again. The preservation of the original substance was the focus of the extensive renovation under the direction of architect Duri Vital, and the traditional room layout of the three-storey Engadine house with adjoining stable was also retained.
Through the entrance gate you enter the spacious, light-filled Sulèr, once the workroom, now the social centrepiece, which welcomes guests with a striking black kitchen and a large, long dining table. Whether for an extended breakfast, cooking together, celebrations or games evenings. The directly adjoining Stüva, the parlour, is panelled with old Swiss stone pine and has a particularly authentic atmosphere with its cosy stove and bench.
The former stable area now houses a cloakroom, household appliances and a small bathroom instead of the animals. Three of the double bedrooms are on the upper floor, two of which are also clad in Swiss stone pine. One of the rooms still has the original trapdoor to the parlour. The third bedroom sleeps three people and offers views of the surrounding mountain peaks.
All three rooms share a separate, elegantly designed bathroom with bathtub. For even more space to play, work or retreat, the top floor offers a huge, open-plan room that can also be used as an additional bedroom with two beds.
If you want to watch the relaxed hustle and bustle on the Plaz, the village square with its two mineral water fountains, with a coffee or aperitif, choose the bench in front of the house. The garden at the back is ideal for a quiet afternoon nap or a barbecue, with panoramic views that will have you dreaming of your next hike in the nearby Swiss National Park, Switzerland’s largest nature reserve. On request, guests can also make use of the owners’ private wine cellar.

In summer, walking, hiking, mountaineering, biking and mountain biking on numerous paths and trails - directly from Scuol or not far away in the Swiss National Park as well as the mineral water and bathing culture in the spring fountains and in the Bogn Engiadina, skiing in winter (the Postbus to the ski area stops right next door), cross-country skiing (the cross-country ski trail is just a 10-minute walk away), ski tours, tobogganing, cultural excursions to the Künstlerhaus Nairs with its art gallery and art laboratory, the Muzeum Susch or Tarasp Castle, as well as forays into regional cuisine
