Fields, trees and the Baltic Sea nearby: Hof 7 is an ideal retreat for nature lovers. The house is located in the scenic Klützer Winkel region between the Hanseatic cities of Lübeck and Wismar. Instead of big cities, there are kilometres of natural beaches, manor houses and villages with brick churches. One of them, St Mary’s, is in Klütz, and as long as you can see its church tower, the saying goes, you are in Klützer Winkel.
Hof 7 is situated on a 4,500 square metre plot at the end of a cul-de-sac, adjacent to the open fields. It is only two kilometres from here for a dip in the Mecklenburg Baltic Sea or a long walk along the beach. If you don’t want to leave the property at all, you can wander around the house in the sun (or shade) and always find new views of the countryside.
The house is simple on the outside and blends unobtrusively into the neighbourhood. Inside, everything has been thought through down to the last detail. The owner of the house, Claudia von Both, is also the owner of the Hamburg planning office Studio Piergianni and is responsible for the renovation, remodelling and interior design. She preserved the heavy wooden beams on the ceilings, which give the country house its character, and chose a rough screed floor in contrast. Reconditioned doors from demolished houses and rustic furniture alternate with timeless design classics. In addition to the large sofa areas, there are two wood-burning stoves. The overall colour palette is dominated by beige and grey tones, interspersed with brightly coloured carpets and other furnishings. Like the adjoining living and dining area, the open-plan kitchen is bright and highly functional thanks to the carpentry fittings.
A steel staircase leads to the upper floor with two bathrooms and four bedrooms, each with its own character. The rooms are separated by a narrow corridor with glass railings, which offers additional privacy and charming views of the lower floor. With a further bedroom and adjoining bathroom on the ground floor, the house is suitable for up to ten people.
