Holiday in an old village school: The Kavaliershaus at Lake Fincken, one of more than a thousand lakes in the Mecklenburg Lake District, is a listed classicist manor house from the 18th century. The listed neo-classical mansion from the 18th Century has been lovingly restored and now accommodates guests in twelve individually designed suites and apartments of various sizes (from 25 – 100 sqm). Traces of its former use as a school still remain, such as a school desk, an old school sign and gymnastics equipment, as well as the name of the restaurant “Klassenzimmer” (Classroom), where seasonal dishes of regional cuisine are served. The history of the house can be read in fragments with the original ceiling and wall colours and mud walls.
The simple and modern furnishings of the suites and flats harmonise wonderfully with the historic character of the building. The generous ceiling height and airy room design convey the feeling of being a guest in a stately castle. The suites and holiday apartments are equipped for two to four people, and some can be used with extra beds for up to eight people. Two apartments with direct sauna access can be combined with the neighbouring suite, as they have their own entrance areas.
The extensive park of the Kavaliershaus with its own bathing area at Lake Fincken, the sunbathing lawn for sunbathing and playing, the sauna with sauna garden and the wine cellar in the historic vault are available to all guests – as are the table tennis table, sandpit, fireplace and the “children’s playhouse”.
The small event barn in the park of the Kavaliershaus can also be booked exclusively to enjoy the long table together at the open fireplace under the wooden supporting structure of the barn – with a view of Lake Fincken. The natural monuments of the partly overgrown castle park contrast with the well-tended lakeside promenade. A romantic place which is just right for small weddings and other festivities.
