The pretty village of Kamilari, situated on three hills on the south coast of Crete, is particularly scenic. To the north rises the Ida Mountains with its majestic Psiloritis peak, the highest on the island. All around, the plain of Messara with its olive groves and orchards looks like a vast green carpet. A seamless, colourful transition between the elements. The Olive Garden Bungalow holiday home, located in one of the typical olive groves, follows this natural principle: With its H-shaped floor plan and exposed concrete surface, the building sits confidently in the landscape, while the floor-to-ceiling window fronts open up exciting perspectives between inside and outside.
The living space is divided between a large outdoor area and two cubes, which are connected by a glazed corridor. The Living Cube has an open-plan kitchen, a long dining table, a living room with a fireplace and a small library for socialising, cooking, reading and relaxing. Not only are all the terraces accessible from here, but the indoor kitchen is also connected to the outdoor kitchen by an elongated window. The Sleeping Cube is dedicated to retreat and houses two double bedrooms with en suite bathrooms. The fully glazed north side of the two cubes turns the Ida Mountains into a natural cinema from both the large sofa in the living room and the master bedroom. The second bedroom offers a view of the olive garden, which constantly changes depending on the direction of the light. The interior combines timeless elegance and naturalness and alternates between straightforward, modern design and colourful art.
As the climate on Crete invites you to be outside almost all year round, the Olive Garden Bungalow plays with a variety of outdoor areas. Two inner courtyards formed by the H-shaped floor plan offer an atmospheric, shaded lounge area in the north, while the wind-protected courtyard in the south catches the sun on cooler days. On hot days, either the long panoramic pool, the large outdoor shower or the nearby sea ensure a cool head and fresh relaxation.
