The guest house “Zum Schockelgaul” with four holiday apartements is located directly on the German Wine Route in the heart of the wine village of Forst. The three-sided farmstead also includes a converted barn, a wine bar, a village shop and a spacious garden.
During the renovation of the building, four tasteful and individually designed apartements for two to four people each were created. The smallest -“Parterre”- with kitchen and separate bedroom and cosy sleeping alcove is located on the ground floor. The slightly larger “Petite Maison” extends over two floors and has an eat-in kitchen, a living room with a sofa bed and a separate bedroom with a reading area. The similarly divided “Mansard” is located under the roof and offers a beautiful view of the roofs of the village. Both units are only partially suitable for small children due to the internal stairs. The largest and very bright “Beletage” on the first floor is ideal for families. With grey-oiled wooden floors, green-painted windows, exposed beams and a simple, select interior, all four apartements are bright and friendly. The subtle blend of old and new creates an ambience that is as understated as it is appealing. The barn, whose hayloft can be used as a dormitory for up to twelve people or as a seminar room, is ideal for larger groups.
The interplay of all parts of the property contributes to the special charm of the village: The wine bar offers Palatinate cultural heritage and a rustic parlour with old wooden furniture and sandstone walls, while the village shop sells Palatinate and French delicacies as well as Westphalian delicacies and selected design products. The large garden is the perfect place to relax and unwind at the end of the day and enjoy a glass of Forster Riesling after extensive excursions into the surrounding area.
What to do
The Palatinate Forest offers numerous excursion possibilities - whether hiking or cycling (especially mountain biking), discovery tours through the wine-growing region, visits to the historic city of Speyer and Hambach Castle or a detour to the lake or the nearby outdoor pool.
