The Seemanshaus, built around 1850, lies in the tranquil village of Born on the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula, surrounded by a vast garden with a view of the Bodden. Only a few years ago, the listed half-timbered house was given a new lease of life – very carefully and with a keen eye for preserving the original building fabric. The owners had discovered it while cycling through the Bodden landscape.
Wherever possible, the historical elements have been preserved – the front façade, the old half-timbered walls and wooden beams as well as the doors, windows and tiles tell the story of the house. Complemented by simple fixtures and fittings, the old sailor’s house now offers contemporary comfort and space for up to eight people. On the ground floor, there are two double bedrooms and a small living room with a sofa bed. The large eat-in kitchen opens onto the terrace and garden with a glass front – purist wooden elements provide clarity, while a long dining table and wood-burning stove invite you to stay. A central staircase leads to the upper floor and thus to a further bedroom with bathroom and the living room. The ceiling and wall paintings and pictures by artist Florina Leinß add colourful accents to the interior.
In addition to the extensive garden, the spacious sauna promises moments of relaxation – whether after a long walk or a ride on one of the four touring bikes available. The nearby Baltic seaside resorts and picturesque Bodden villages are also best reached by bike – you might even discover a particularly beautiful sailor’s cottage in need of renovation on one of these tours.

Hinfahren!
