A house as a total work of art. With the Schedlberg, the architect Peter Haimerl, who has received many awards for his buildings, has transformed an old forest dwelling in his home region, the Bavarian Forest, into a “house for thinkers” in his own radical and subtle way. When rebuilding the dilapidated building from 1839, the architect was able to preserve both the weathered wooden shingles and the rough granite walls, filled the gaps with large concrete bars and connected the interior with the natural surroundings through large glass surfaces. Old and new are also interwoven in the interior: the visible, original character of the historical building fabric is emphasised by modern fixtures made of wood and concrete – creating visual connections and interesting perspectives everywhere. The Schedlberg is an inspiring place, ideal for retreats and time-outs, but also for team events or small workshops. A place for thinkers and for anyone who wants to come up with good ideas for themselves or together with others.
