Due to its location on a pier in the Baltic Sea resort of Olpenitz near Kappeln, a town situated on the Schlei, the Strandvilla gives guests the impression of living in the middle of the Baltic Sea. To the front you can enjoy a view of a bathing bay, to the back you have a wide view over the Baltic Sea and the Schleimünde nature reserve. However, not only the location is special but also the house. The cubic building is clad with extraordinary bricks from Denmark. With their depth and iridescent red colour, they lend the building a strong character. The interiors are distinguished by panoramic windows that extend over the entire front and rear façade. If the sliding doors are opened, the sea breeze can be felt blowing through the house. The views of the water have strong counterparts: a suspended fireplace and a sculptural staircase with a curved walnut banister attract attention. The interior plays with colours, patterns, materials and different styles. Modern design meets modern classics and pop art objects. The floors are covered with cement tiles from Morocco and Portugal, Indian sandstone and oak parquet. Colours provide for a cheerful mood—from the crockery in the kitchen to the bedrooms, which are designed in the Le Corbusier colours green, yellow and antique pink.
On 250 square metres the villa offers space for up to seven people. The ground floor is designed as an open space: On the beach side there is the kitchen designed like a workshop, on the side facing the Baltic Sea there is the dining area, which is lowered by two steps, and the lounge corner with a leather sofa. The upper floor accommodates three bedrooms and a master suite, where guests can look out over the Baltic Sea from the bed, the free-standing bathtub or the sauna. The 50-square-metre roof terrace affords even greater views.
No dogs allowed in the house.
