Pensiun Laresch has grown! The Tiny House expands the facilities of the mountain lodge that Marianne Peyer and Lukas Hug opened in 2015 in Mathon, a village in the Beverin Nature Park, Switzerland. In order to be able to offer more guests accommodation in the alpine world of Grisons, they have placed a Tiny House next to the lodge. They chose this building type because they have been interested in this form of living and the theme of reduction to the essentials for a long time. Other reasons were the manageable investment and the possibility of potentially building more houses, depending on demand.
The Tiny House is in dialogue with both the landscape and the main building. With its wooden shingle façade, it has a different feel than the mountain lodge, which is reminiscent of a rock, while the asymmetrical roof shape connects both houses. Just as with Pensiun Laresch, a lot of emphasis was placed on sustainability when designing the Tiny House. The house is made entirely of wood from trees in the neighbouring forest that have been cut in accordance with the lunar calendar; some of the furniture and the kitchen are also made of this wood. Sheep’s wool was used as insulation, and clay plaster ensures a pleasant indoor climate. In case the house is no longer needed, it is 90 % compostable (except for the technical installations).
The Tiny House comprises a living space with a dining area and a small kitchen—open all the way up to the roof and completely glazed towards the valley. You sleep on a gallery in the gable above the bathroom. From the bed you can enjoy a view of the impressive alpine panorama. In fine weather, the space is extended by the terrace—a box seat in the open air with wonderful views.

Why we like this house
The Tiny House has an independent character and is yet in dialogue with the mountain lodge. Those who spend their holidays here are connected to nature not only because of the views: Wood, clay and stone also convey a natural ambience inside.
This house is great for
Individuals and couples, mountain and nature lovers
